7. Udine Far East Film Festival - 22.-29.April

"In fact, for the first time in the West, and to the delight of Quentin Tarantino who paid homage to these films in his masterpiece "Kill Bill", the Festival will present 16 cult films never before seen together, including among others the unique "Black Tight Killers" (a veritable triumph of Japanese pop culture). This is a precious and valuable opportunity to assess Nikkatsu Action genre, which dominated Japanese cinema from 1954 to 1971, and to become familiar with its protagonists.

This retrospective, organised in collaboration with The Japan Foundation and with Nikkatsu, focuses on five male idols (Ishihara Yujiro, Kobayashi Akira, Akagi Keiichiro, Shishido Jo, Watari Tetsuya) and three most acclaimed directors (Masuda Toshio, Kurahara Koreyoshi and Hasebe Yoshiharu), providing to the audience what is an unprecedented panorama outside the Orient…"

Rock survivor Courtney Love is to make her film comeback by taking on the lead role in a biopic of legendary Deep Throat star Linda Lovelace.

The movie, tentatively titled Lovelace, will trace the porn star's life from the age of 17, through her brief adult film career and her subsequent life as a militant feminist, until her death in 2002 at the age of 53.
